Open Text Fires People, Hires People, Decides Captaris’ Fate
Open Text finalized the acquisition of document management (and then some) provider Captaris for US$ 131million, which was in the works since September 2008. Open Text also announced preliminary product plans for Captaris — namely, leveraging the product in management of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)-related content.
Additionally, Open Text went on a hiring spree in the APAC region, stealing away some of Vignette and EMC talents.
As duly noted by one of my readers, Open Text is also possibly looking to downsize up to about 10% (= 360 or so people) — none of this is confirmed yet, by the way.
